So after a couple weeks of having my Bonnie parked, I finally installed a set of Predators to accommodate for the massive amount air passing though the UNIs that sit where my airbox used to be.
After crankin' the bike up and setting off a few car alarms in my parking garage, I took to the street. I took it easy for about the half mile until I hit the first "major street"... and I let it rip. As I broke about 65 or so, I looked to my left, only to find this cop posted up in this parking lot. I hit the breaks pretty hard, and was able to bring it down to about 40 or so (what I figured was a reasonable speed). Naturally, I immediately see red n' blue flashin' in my mirrors...
Long story short...
He tickets me for doing 40 in a 30, not having proof of insurance (I took it out like 2 weeks ago to have the title put in my name, and I forgot to put it back in), and my favorite... "violate restriction code J: Licenced M/C operator 21 or over in sight."
Now that last one is questionable... I was totally under the impression that that suggests that you need someone over 21 riding with you... unless you yourself is over 21 (I'm 25). Did I totally misinterpret that?
Anyway... the bike runs great.

Do you have an endorsement or just the learner`s permit? We have a rule kinda like that.

I've taken the written portion of the test, but not the riding side of it... so essentially I just have my permit, but I think the way they do it here in TX is that it's an endorsement... with a restriction. Once I take the riding test, the restriction comes off.
I don't get it though... I had my riding permit forever when I was living in FLA, and since I was over 21, I didn't have a problem.
...Figure that one out.

In Wa.,you take the "written" test, then you have 3 months to learn to ride, supposedly under the visual observation of a licensed motorcycle rider. Then you take the riding test, then get an un-restricted motorcycle endorsment.Until you pass the riding portion, you are a "learner" in Wa. We have recently enacted a law that allows the cops to confiscate your bike if you don`t have the endorsement and are caught doing something illegal on you bike. This is in response to the spate of squid deaths. They dwell on the increase in m/c deaths, but gloss over the huge number of new riders out there.

I try not to commit two violations at the same time. So keeping up lic, ins, tail lights, etc are important if you plan on the occasional speeding stop. You might wiggle a warning then, but not if you're busted for multiple violations.

Here in VA they got this crazy law that if you ever had a motorcycle lic you can just take the test and get your lic but dmv only keeps records for 10 years .If you had a lic over 10 years ago you ether have to have that old lic or you have to take the knowledge test and get a learners lic that you have to have for 30 days before you can take the road test and get your lic. With the learners you cant ride unless you ride with someone that has a lic( like *** are they going to do from another bike lol) you cant ride after dark, you cant ride 2 up and you cant ride on the interstate. And you should see the road corse was built for someone on a 125 cc .cones are like 2 ft apart. uturn part of it is a right angle not a cruve.A guy that works for dmv told me alot of the state police bike guys couldnt pass it.I was lucky and passed it.It would be crazy on a big hog or a super bike that dont have much streering.Corse you can pay like $150.00 and take a saftey corse where you ride lille toy bikes and not have to do the road test.SEE HOW BIG BROTHER LOOKS OUT FOR US

Being a former police motor guy, the U-Turn you are describing is called the 180* turn about. Yes, it is very tough, but it teaches you not to look down (target fixation). The rule of motorcycles is "where you look, you go"

We have the U-turn test inside some painted lines. If you take your test on a bike "smaller" than 600cc,you have to do the turn inside a smaller "box". I didn`t know that at the time [up until 5 minutes before the test] so when she said "you`re 800cc,use the big "box",it was like u-turning in a football field. :-D After every ride I took [un supervised, over 3000 miles],I had swung by the DMV parking lot and ridden the test course. I had practiced left and right u-turns in the small "box" 100s of times, without a clue why there was 2 sets of lines on the road. :-D
