today i got stung by a wasp
on my thigh
my inner thigh
way too close to the things i care deeply about

on my motorcycle
at 60 mph
while wearing jeans
faded old jeans
but jeans nonetheless
we're talking denim here
impenetrable road rash saving american blue denim
but it was no match for that god***** wasp

i never actually saw him
just the big unsightly lump he left
i guess he does not like motorcycles
mine's a triumph

i thought it was a cigarette at first
maybe a winston or a lucky
but it was no butt
it was that little ***** and he got me
way too close to the things i care about deeply

*****

what do you do when a wasp takes a disliking to your mean machine
at 60 mph
you try to look cool
you are on a motorcycle
you have to look cool
but that ***** burns like a cigarette
way too close to the things you care about deeply

so i rode it out
i was on a motorcycle
i had to look cool
pulled her over when i could
cussed that sonofa***** wasp and his inbred offspring
checked my kibbles and bits and cursed my luck

i hear assless chaps are a good defense on a Harley
maybe i'll see that sonofa***** wasp at the leather store.

Once (like 20 years ago) I was dressed all nice like en-route to a job interview riding my bike, had my tie in my tank bag. Some sort of bee flew into my shirt and stung the ***** out of me, I went hands free and ripped the dress shirt my body and let it fly. Had to go back home to get another shirt as that one was now missing buttons. Me no like bees or any sort. I cannot imagine what the other folks in traffic thought, hopefully that I wanted a bee out of my shirt.

I didn't get that gig anyhow, should have known it was a sign.

Reminds me of a time long ago (25+) riding my first bike and first parallel twin (KZ400) with my girlfriend on the back. She had an open-face helmet on.
All of a sudden, she starts screaming...I pull off to the shoulder and find out that a bee flew right into her helmet and stung her between her eye and ear. Not fun.

That has kept me in a full-face helmet since. Although, now that I am back on another parallel twin (my second), I yearn for an open-face helmet....with a bee-guard.

Hope you're healing, TCL.

Very poetic. Joe Strummer would be proud.
I've never been stung by anything yet but a dragonfly bounced off my visor that made my head snap back. Only way I know it was a dragonfly is that it left a wing. Glad I had the visor down that day. :-D

Heh, a while back (not anywhere near 20 years) I was riding with the visor on my full face, open... and I watched as one of these bastards...

flew right into my helmet. He landed just outside my left eye, and kinda got stuck between my face and the padding. I'm trying to maintain focus on the road, while I'm watching the terror unfold in my peripheral vision.

Luckily, though... the wasp was able to scramble to his feet, and he exited stage left, before dishing out any payback for getting in his way.

...Yeah, not fun.
