The good news is ... my bike isn't down. The bad news is ... I wanted to begin the valve reshimming process early this coming week. So I ordered the 'official' Triumph backlash gear removal tools, including the wrench which I probably won't use. The tool came in within a few days from Triumph, but only contained one of the "L"-shaped pins to keep the backlash gears from unwinding. I want to be able to pull both cams at one time so I can play "musical chairs" with the shims from the engine, so I don't end up ordering 5-6 shims. I probably should have done what others on this site have done .... make my own pins.
I immediately contacted the dealer's parts dept on Wednesday of this past week, who would immediately contact Triumph, requesting the missing pin.
When I stopped in Sat afternoon to check on the status, I got this "oh my gosh, I forgot. It's my fault. I've got a note to myself right here. I'll take care of it first thing Monday". Good thing I stopped in to check.
I forget things, too. But if my only job was to handle customer orders, I think I'd make sure every order or problem was addressed promptly.
OK, now I feel better.
Bob
