I have a rear turn signal that is loose. According to the manual you have to take out the rear fender and remove the rear light mounting bracket to access the nut that fastens the turn signal to the bracket.
I would appreciate any suggestions to make it easier.
Thanks in advance.

I would definitely remove the fender. It only takes 4 bolts. The tail light has 3 bolts that go through grommets in the fender. These required a considerate amount of tugging to get out when I took my light off. It's pretty plug and play from there. All you'll have to do is give the signal nut a turn or two and put it all back on. Do this all with the fender on a good solid workbench, not a stool, or you risk dropping the fender trying to yank the light off.

Thanks TCL.
Will the wiring harness present a problem? There is only so much length to work with.

I think if mine sags any more , I will replace them w/ rigid stalks from Kirk or someone. @ $14 it will be worth not having to do it again! Did the fronts already- they look great!
Besides the plastic chrome isnt holding up too well anyway. :hammer:

Retrobiker, are you sure that it's loose? They "naturally" have some slop in them.

The fender is easy to remove, but be careful to avoid scratching it. There's a wiring connector for it under the seat, trace the rear wires to identify it.

The nut was loose and that side was almost dangling. I was only able to hand tighten it. I'll remove the fender as you folks have suggested.I'll look for that connector. Thanks for the suggestions.
Probably will have to eventually replace them too if it keeps coming loose.

Got her done. It was a pain to get the fender and tail light off just to tighten one nut. The connector sits right on top of the fender. The rigid type of stalk seems like a good option if this happens again. I looked up Dennis Kirk but am a little lost as to which make and type.I'll keep looking.Hopefully it doesn't need replaced for a while. This platic stuff is pretty flimsy but keeps the overall cost low I guess.
Thanks again.

Retro,

There is a modification, shown with clear photos, that shortens the stalk and makes the lights look better for ZERO money. Shorter stalks, it seems would hold up better.

Check it out.
