I doubt we will ever see them? At times I have wanted to have Knee Pads on my bonne- for the true "vintage look". I dont want them all the time tho. It would be really cool if some one made magnetic Knee Pads that could be removed for waxing, or cleaning or just not being there. Seems to be a simple concept that would work well. Anyone else got the same feelings??? :???:

No.

Of course, on the Thruxton the knees are below the tank ...

Since I have a T100 I have knee pads. If I didn't have them I would get them but only for looks. There is an ugly flat spot on the tank that they cover. The bike is so wide that they are usless unlike the older bikes which were a lot narrower. Love my Bonnie to bad its overweight like me. If it were a 650 it would be 100 lbs lighter , Sorry I still miss my old 650 tr6r. Oh well. Ed

I'm all for the knee pads. Magnetic would be cool, I guess, but you would probably end up leaving them on permanently once you got sand under them and scratched the tank up. My bike only has 1800 miles on ir, yet my knee pads are wearing in some spots. I guess that means they're doing their job of keeping me gripped on the tank in turns, so I am happy with them.

Yeah I would only want them for the "Vintage Look". On the Thrux- I dont think they would look good. That bike is what we did to our bikes back then, to make them look more "modern" & sleek & cool. As far as scratches go- make SURE they are clean & scratches shouldnt be a problem. I guess it is more for "show than go"? If they were available, I would buy a set for show. Think super polished tank, & armor-alled pads, & it would look really VINTAGE w/o the wax build-up around the edges. I guess just an easy way to get the real "clean" vintage look w/o the extra work? Keep dreamin I guess?

Don,why not get some of that magnetic sign material [like the fly by night contractors use] and glue it to the back of the pads? Its ultra thin and pretty cheap. Maybe just a few of those PizzaHut magnets you have on the fridge?

Rumor is that the Hot Rodder of Triumph Bonneville (and like models) would remove the knee pads for a cleaner look...That's the "look" I'm going for so it's a No Go for knee pads on my Bonnie...Although, the magnet idea would be great for those that would like access to the paint underneath to wax/maintain...
