Since I opened up my airbox and pipes, the bike feels stronger at all rpms and especially after 6000 rpms.
I'm wondering now about the 19 tooth as opposed to a stock 18. I am thinking with its increased power the bike may be able to utilize a 19 with hardly any off the line loss of performance, except wont be as likely to pull the wheel if I really crank on it.
what do you guys who have a 19 think on that?
G :hammer:

I had a 19t, with the airbox removed, with predators.

HATED IT!

You only drop about 450-500 rpms at 70 mph, but it really widens your gear ratios. It feels like it takes forever to get through the gears. I now have a 17t on the bike and that's what I'm sticking with.

Mine pulls hard also since I lost the airbox, opened the pipes, rejetted and it's just a little ole 790. I also am running the 19T and really like it. She accelerates just fine for me. I can pull away from 90% of what's on the road from a stop if I want to, that's good enough for me. Maybe I drop down a gear more often going into turns, but isn't that what they're for. I'm also not what one would call an aggressive rider. $20.00, fast and easy to swap back and forth also.

G...for what it's worth. My last Dyno run a few weekends ago after I replaced my airbox didn't show much of a significant improvement as far as power is concerned, however, since I've been running a 19-t on all my dyno runs a significant improvement as far as speed vs. time was observed. With airbox elapsed time was 13.9 sec to 100.2 mph, with NARK 12.6 sec to 100.2 mph.
I think the "butt dyno" we feel is actually the fact that we get there a little quicker. Thoughts anyone?

Shorty

PS: Let me clarify my data. The speed vs. time is documented Dyno data not Speedo reading.

Sweat...I think can understand your point on the 19T Sprocket. Is it because with the 17T you're quicker rather than faster (or more top end w/ less revs?) And if this is the case, it comes down to preference or goal in which someone wants to achieve. Right? You've had both, and possibly the 18T....your thoughts?

you're right, but quicker is quicker and slower is slower.
even the dealer (altho he hated how loud she is) had to admit it pulls like a freight train and well past what a stocker does

G... funny you mention "Loudness". When the Technician (at a Honda dealership) ran my Bonnie, his whole crew had to check-out what the heck he was running. It was definitely not Honda sounding :-D .

with the 19t I always felt like I was in the wrong gear.

at 70mph, you have to down shift to really pass anything with gusto, but with the 17t at 70mph I'm around 4500 rpms so I can just roll on the throttle and I'm gone.

Also, the 17t is more forgiving in the twisties, and that, my friends, is what it's all about.

I like a close-ratio trans.

Try this: run that 19t for 2 months, you may like it. Then switch back to the 17t and it will feel like someone took the anchor off the bike. Like you guys said, they're easy enough to switch back/forth.
