I deal with the mess by being thankful it is on the shield and not my face. Removal is a little easier if you use hot water on a washcloth to soften up the guts. They reconstitute and come off much easier.

I pack some handy alcohol wipes at all times. What stinks is when I clean the face shield, and one mile into my ride, one really huge bug splats right where my eyes are! Better outside than in the face!

I started using a product sold by Griots Garage called Speed Shine, at first on the bike to clean it up after a ride. Then I tried it on my helmet and face shield and have been using it for two years. It removes bugs quite well and leaves no streaks or smears, unlike other plastic cleaners I had tried. I keep a small, maybe 3 ounce, sprayer of it and small micro fiber cloth in my tailbag and clean the shield if I get one of those big goobery bugs right where my eyes are trying to focus. Cleans the bike and helmet quite well and leaves a shine that makes subsequent cleaning much easier

I like this company's products. I use their rubber cleaner, wheel cleaner, hand polish, hand wax, and clay bar. Their vinyl and rubber dressing is expensive but so much better than Armor All and the like that I use it exclusively.

I recommend Plexus plastic cleaner. Works great.

You know, even though we've been having a great deal of fun with OD6 about this, he does make an interesting point. When I look at the concentration of bugs on my shield from a 100-mile trip this afternoon, it is far more per square inch than I have ever seen on my car windshield. Is there some way in which bugs may be acoustically homing in on us? I mean, there were some real kamikaze bugs out there today!

I use a product called Rejex....it was originally designed for bus fleets, private jets, and motor coaches.....

You can use it on any surface....plastic, painted parts of the bike, chrome etc.

Leaves a wonderful shine and makes cleaning up dirt and bugs a snap.

I also keep a pouch of windex wipes with me to clean the face shield should I find myself riding during bug:30 PM

One thing about upnorth with temps at freezing into May, not many bugs early. I finally got enough to clean; I rehydrated the blotches with some water and soft cloth then polished with Plexus. Went out for a ride and kept trying to close a closed face shield.
