I use a book ring from the office supply.

I tried a couple of different lightweight fobs attached only to the key and got rid of both. Now I ride with just the key in the ignition. It has a 1" heavy duty ring with the female end of one of those key attachment doo-hikies, nothing more. I was distracted by anything flopping around in the breeze. When I get off the bike, I remove the key and attach it to my main keyring, which is clipped to my belt loop and stays in my pocket. Only other keys I carry are for the fork lock, a disc lock, and a cobralinks lock that I keep in the garage. I have a garage door opener under the LH sidecover with a water-proof switch, so I don't have to carry house keys.

I use a leather tri-fold key holder, similar to what BILYSIM is talking about, and a velcro strap around the fork to keep it all in place. The fork, Tank and house key all button inside while riding, and it even has a handy place to keep my insurance card. When it comes to keys, I'm one of those absent-minded types so I have to keep them all together. :hammer:

I use a key ring with a separating mechanism so only the key and the half of the connector are in the ignition. No problem with flapping.

I have a small ring on the ignition key and a small ring on the fork lock key. I use a cheap aluminum carabiner to hold them both. When riding, I take off the ignition key for starting the bike and clip the fork lock key to my belt loop.

I just took my fob off before my last ride - only the ring on the key. Yeah, that's more like it.

RonD posted the below on the Twins Hangout forum, it makes sense:
"few years ago i had a Harley Dyna glide, and on a trip the engine kept backfiring cutting in and cutting out.
weired behaviour what it turned out to be was that the ignition key out there in the wind with the flap attached to the key was acting as a sail , slightly moving the ignition key back and forward and eventually the contacts in the switch became worn out.
and the wind with the rocking motion was turning the bike ignition switch on and off, so now i just use a single key in the ignition with nothing attached to it..
anyone experieced this?

Awesome, greyplague.
I'm vacationing in London this summer (yes, I'm going to try to get to Hinckley) and think using a coin I personally brought back from England as a fob is a perfect memento.
Of course, I'll have to remember not to spend them all in a pub before I head home......
