Hello all -

Brand new to the site. Nice place you got here!

My father just picked up a brand new 07 Triumph America yesterday from OC Motorsports in Santa Ana, CA (terrific service, btw). It's the two-tone Pacific Blue / NE White combo. He's ridden before, but not since before I was born (I'm 25), so needless to say he needs to get his feet under him again. He'll be taking a MSC with my mother and I, so this is really a family thing that we're all super-excited about. The long-term plan is for him to upgrade to the R3 (in matching colors, of course) and the America will become Mom's, but until then the America is more than enough bike even for a big guy like him (6'6" 300+lbs).

When we picked up the bike yesterday, we passed on some of the accessories my parents would like with the thought that they could likely be found cheaper online. I'm on several car forums and have usually found that the forums are sponsored or have close connections with vendors that carry accessories at a good discount. so, where would you guys recommend we go to pick up some toys? right now, we're mainly looking for a windshield, possibly some bags, pipes, etc.

outside of that, any general advice you have as it relates to the bike or to just being such a newb to riding would be great. i'm already sold on the Triumph brand and am looking to posisibly pick myself up something in the near future (Thunderbirds seem to suit my size and my taste).

Mike

Hey..i think i saw your bike ! You bought it from orange county motorsports in santa ana didn't you? I was there yesterday and saw it in the service bay as they were getting it ready. Probably saw you there. I own the blue speedmaster that was sitting outside the showroom in case you saw it. I figure it had to be you because how many people took delivery on a 07 blue/white america yesterday ! And san diego is nearby.

I don't recall the hat, but i knew that hadda be you. I don't know if you saw me but i was in jeans and a long sleeve grey Tshirt giving your bike the once over. Sure brings back memories of picking up my new speedmaster from that service bay 2 years ago. May be doing it again before long. Nothing like getting on a brand new bike they just set up for you and rolling out the driveway.

Oh yeah, as for accessories, newspeedmaster.com is one place for mostly aftermarket stuff made especially for our bikes. A good place for genuine triumph accessories and part is hermys.com. (look for the triumph E store link on thier page) There are more but i'll let others chime in since i can't recall some of the names.

Hmmm, 6'6", 300 lbs? I am thinking that we are going to have to transition to another bike, a THUNDERBIRD!!!!

Actually, congrats. I havent found one of the new Trumpets that couldnt carry someone our size. I am just a tiny 6'4", 290 or so myself. I am jonesing for the Rocket also. I would also like to add an America to the stable.

Welcome!

First few things you have to do:
Get some decent cans on there... Staintunes (if you don't mind paying for quality), Mad Dogs, D&D or Sceptres if you like em loud!

Next, pull the top snorkle, new K&N or UNI filter and rejet.

think about a summer screen, real change in long distance comfort riding...

Low Sissy Bar and Rack if you're going to do some 2-up riding
and tank pads to protect that awesome paint job!

After this, it's usually all a matter of personal taste and preference,,,,,,,,,, how much do you like chrome?

Stay safe!

I'll add in the touring seat. It is by far the most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever owned. Your passenger will thank you too.

No I do not believe so. The touring season is different. It is somewhat different. It is a one piece seat that is very nice.
