I just installed a BC air box kit on my Thruxton and re jetted it. It runs great , pulls all the way to red line, no flat spots or hesitation. I have not done a dyno run and it "Feels" like it is working better than the stock box.
My question is thisn my fuel injected bikes I have always tried to increase the the volume of dead air in the air box. The still air is much better for air flow.Is this not the same for motors with carbs? Would a larger volume air filter(perhaps a single filter for both carbs) work better?

a filter for both carbs is what you had stock. the kit provides a filter for each carb.
which works better?
or, I dont understand your question

I think he's saying that pods are getting turbulent air which is known not to be as good as still air that you get with an airbox. So he's questioning whether or not an airbox might be better than pods IF the airbox and filter were bigger. At least thats what i think he means. And if so the answer would i think be yes, but only once the size reaches a certain point. And that point may be too big to fit in a bike. Theoretically i believe that would be the correct answer. The thing might have to be 1/2 the size of the freakin' bike to be better than pods tho !

Dazco, you may be right in that the question wasn't clear. Would a single LARGE air filter the would fit in available space work better? This should create more still air for the carbs to draw from.

I dont think there is room to put anything much larger than what was stock. An opened up air box with a free flow filter does not flow quite as much air as the pods do.
And when you are wide open, the air is sucked down with velocity, I'm not sure if it would make a difference if the air started still or moving. You could fab your peices, buy dyno time and figure it out real world numbers, thats the only definitive answer
