hi folks, just joined, coz i've had my '01 bonny 9 months now, it had 639 miles on the clock when i got it n now its got 1300, had been dry stored from new and i was the first person to get it serviced, took it out for a blast yesterday, when i got back my m8 pointed out an oil spatter on the rh side pannel, so while he continued with all the usual 'british oil slick' jibes i got to investigating the source.
turns out to be coming from the head gasket at the rh front headbolt flue.
has anyone had this happen b4?
what suggestions are there to fix it?
is there anything else i need to look out for?

Considering it has been sitting for some 5 or 6 years...it is most likely the cam cover gasket that is leaking. Removal of the cam cover and a little sealer will go along way.

Have any pics?

Daz, I've taken mine off probably a 1/2 dozen times and I've always reused the original gasket, with a little bead of RTV. Why use a new gasket every time? This cover doesn't need it.

Sounds like the clutch chatter problem most early bikes had, if you are lucky Triumph might still give you a new basket to fix it. What oil do you use? It gets worse if you don't use synth mc oil. Adjusting the cable might also help, but the fix is still a new basket.
