hi folks,
just joined, I've had my '01 bonny 9 months now, it had 639 miles on the clock when i got it n now its got 1300, had been dry stored from new and i was the first person to get it serviced, took it out for a blast yesterday, when i got back my m8 pointed out a large oil spatter on the Rh side panel.

so while he continued with all the usual 'British oil slick' jibes i got to investigating the source.

turns out to be coming from the head gasket at the Rh front head bolt flue.
has anyone had this happen b4?
what suggestions are there to fix it?
is there anything else i need to look out for?

Do you mean the cam cover gasket? If so, this is a common issue and is resolved by new gasket, and/or clean, reseat gasket, and possibly use sealant very sparingly.

I haven't done it myself, my dealer fixed it under warranty. I'm repeating received wisdom from this group because no one else responded.

Other hints: Some people find properly seating the gasket to be a difficult, tedious job, some don't. Don't overtorque the bolts.
