I put on superbars yesterday, and when I tighten the screws and bolts on the switch assembly, the throttle sticks open. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. I've taken it on and off like three times. I don't think it's the cables. It works fine with the bolts lightly seated. Only happens when I tighten them. Anyone ever have this problem?

Check to make sure that something that the bar end is not holding the throttle open. Give yourself some space from the bar end especially if you have bar end mirrors.

I had that when I tried a bar with the "dimples" some bars have at the bend, to accommodate HD.
If your bars have a round profile and it still does it, try it in a couple of different posistions, just slightly. If it still does it and you're determined to get the bars on, you may have to sand a little off the end and /or inside of the plastic throttle tube
A pretty normal occurance when fitting non-stock items, but its fun making it work.

Loosen the twist grip Assembly and slide it up a little.
If the Assembly slides down a little, it will contact
the bar end cap, and will not turn freely.

I put on bar end mirrors, but that's not the problem. I've checked that multiple times. This makes no sense. The bars are round, just like stock. It's not mounted on a bend or anything. I've read numerous posts about installing new bars and I've never heard of anyone having this problem. When I tighten the bolts on the clamp piece it's putting pressure on something inside the assembly.

I had the same problem after I added Napolean bar end mirrors. Although it appeared I had enough clearance at the bar end, I didn't. After moving the throttle assembly inward a tad, the problem was gone. Give it a try. If it works, great. If it doesn't, at least you've eliminated that from your list of probable causes.

You called it Geoff. It was the throttle tube binding inside the housing where the throttle cables attach. It sits in a little channel and when I was tightening the clamp it was tilting it sideways a bit. It's because of the bars angling a bit where the clamp goes. I'm going to take it apart and grind the plastic down a bit. I hope this works. What a pain in the butt! I could make it work as is, if I wanted my lever pointing up to the sky.
I can't believe no one else has had this problem with the Superbars. Lots of people have them.
