After a 5 week wait (I ordered it 5 weeks ago today), I finally received my Triumph locking gas cap.

First thing I noticed was that the locking gas cap is at least twice as heavy as the stock......no big deal.

However, an added benefit to the locking gas cap is that it is twice as thick as the stock cap. That means that is is FAR easier to remove with gloved hands. Plus, since it sits up higher, you won't scratch the paint around the gas cap while trying to remove the cap.

On a side note...it took 5 weeks because Triumph was completely out of them (MADSS could have done a much better job of saying they were out of stock up front!). But since I ordered it on a Friday, I got free shipping, so it was only $33.80. I went back and looked today, and the price has jumped up to $46.49 before shipping. Wow...
Even at that price however, it's a lot cheaper (but not as cool) as a Monza cap. Plus it looks good on the tank. Sometimes the Monza sits up just a tad too tall, but this looks perfect IMO.

Yep I orderred mine the day I picked my bike up 4 weeks ago because I saw a guy picking up the last one the dealer had and it looked great. Waiting for the eternal back order to end soon now I hope as a couple guys have posted they got theirs.

BTW Panther Glad you were wearing clothes when you took the pic would have hated to see your reflection in that nice shiney chrome if you hadn't

Hehe, I ordered mine from madss two weeks ago. I got the rest of my goods yesterday - still waiting for the locking gas cap.

I did get a confirmation email and a shipping email saying the item was backordered. Which is a bit more than I get from some of the other triumph stores. :knkknk:

It looks nice. My regular cap, though, seems to have broken in and actually comes off now. I find it much easier to remove with my glove on... just push my palm down, flat, over it and twist my arm. No problems anymore. The glove provides more traction.

A little pricey, but I think the machined aluminum one Brent sells is the best solution--especially if you don't need a locking one. It is MUCH lighter than the stock one and it is easy to get off. Besides, you must disassemble the stock one to put the aluminum top cap on the stock threaded part--forces one to look at the innerds of the thing. :-D

The cap looks really good on the bike. Like I said before, the added thickness and "crown" of the cap seems to go well with the curve of the tank.

Or maybe the cap just seems more retro....like something from an old Ford Fairlane.....I bet that is what it is....

Which leads into today's fun.....those Wal-Mart thermos gauge cups. I've finally gotten around to working on them again. Let me tell you, a lowered fly screen makes a handy work bench....

Ordered my first farkle today, the Triumph Locking gas cap. Theres just some mean folks around here who just might find the stock non locking cap too tempting. Had to delay picking up the new T100 until wednesday. Today was just too cold and wet for these 54 year old bones.
