I took my headlight off to have it sand blasted and powder coated. At the same time I'm moving my front turn signals down to the forks. Because I will have to pull the turn signal wires out of the loom, I would like to go ahead and run the rest of the control wires through the handlebars.

Are the stock handlebars completely hollow? I heard the handlebars on some bike have obstructions near the clamps, but it doesn't look like that's the case with my Speedie bars. I thought I would ask the question though, before I start drilling holes. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Rich-

If you haven't done so, check in with this topic over at the www.bonnevilleamerica.com site. This has been covered, and don't quote me, but I THINK Sal Maglie has all the info on this procedure.

Sorry I'm not more definitive on this; its been a while.

Would like for you to check back with info.

I think we have something in the tech vault over there with the procedure. If not, check Pat's site or Sandmann's site, cause it may be hosted there. Great pics, I even helped with the instructions

And to answer your question, they are hollow except for the end caps.

Thanks for the info. I will head over to BonnevilleAmerica before I start drilling. I got my headlight bucket back from the powder coater today, so I need to get going.

I used Matt's write-up:
Bar Wiring How-to

And a thread I started recently over on TBA.com:

I had read Matt's write-up, but not your thread on TBA. You can't search their forums unless your are a member, so thanks for the link. I'm living in the south now, but my grandparents still live in Boonsboro and I went to school in Hagerstown. It's a small world.

Wow, sure is. I grew up in the Smithsburg area and now live in Williamsport. Let me know if you make it back home.
