Just installed some lower rise bars on Scrambler & fit everything back on, but it's pulled very very taut, esp on throttle cables & front brake cable. On testing it, when I turned bars to right, thus pulling cables very tight, it revved the motor, as if the tension on the cable was somehow allowing more gas. Then as soon as I straightened bar again, it went back to normal. Dunno, if I should chop bars or go with longer cables, which seems pricey.

Yeah! Someone else with western bars! I thought everyone was going down the cafe racer or tourer route!

My Arlen Ness Flattrackers did the same. You may get some slack in the cables where they are attached to the frame.

I got the Western bar kit from New Bonnie. Love it. I had to play with the cables to get them sorted out but it was no big deal.

Can one do the replacement oneself, or do you need a mechanic? That would get costly.
I wouldn't know how to replace those throttle & idle cables. I'm wondering if there's any slack in the throttle cables where they go under the tank. All I need is an inch & a half.
Don't the Triumph America, Speedmaster or Rocket 3 have longer cables which I could use. That seems cheaper if they'd work.

Just fitted longer cables & brake hose to my bike yesterday, the only hard part was getting the throttle cable 'nipple' attached to the carb.
Brake lever feels better (firmer) but I've not had time to test the bike up the road.

The hardest part of the replacement was getting the throttle cable attached to the carbs. Definitely a DIY, no special knowledge/tools needed. My original cable didn't have enough slack to make it, if the America etc has longer cables that might just be the ticket for you. I personally don't know.

I installed Western bars from Bella Corse on my 07 T100 and it was fiddly getting the cables oriented just right. It was pretty tight. It did work out and am pleased with the bars.

I also just installed S/S brake lines as well (stock length) from Bella Corse and they fit without issue.
