I'm thinking of getting a Triumph, either a T100 or America. I've never ridden a bike with forward controls like on the America. Is this position really comfortable, do you have to hold your legs up?

It takes getting used to, I 'm told. But I prefer an upright position like the t-100 so thats what I'm on

It's kind of like sitting in your favorite easy chair, but moving really fast.
FYI I'm 6'2" and the Speedy fits me like a glove. Good luck!

I love it. But i must admit they can be tiring on long trips. Then again thats me, and i have problems after a certain amount of miles being 53. So you may not, i dunno. If you intend to make long (say 150-200 miles +) rides a normal activity, then it could possibly make for a sore back or tired legs. If you're young chances are a lot less likely it'll bother you. I put my feet back on the passenger pegs if it becomes tiring after a number of miles and that helps.

But to be fair, lots of miles is going to make ANY bike become uncomfortable. Just sitting in a comfortable chair in your living room can become uncomfortable if you're sitting in it as long as we do on long rides.

I have the Speedmaster and it is my second bike. Im 5'7 and I dont have any problems with the forward controls. I find the seating position comfy. What I have found is that changing gears I am using more the end of the boot than my previous bike (virago 250). I think this is just that the gap between the foot peg and gear lever is too long for me when you have a heel on your boot. The Speedmaster and the America are a pleasure to ride IMHO.

Regards

Derek

My speedy was the first bike I rode with forward controls. I'm 5"9' and I love it. I thought it was awkward at first, but after you adjust yourself - the difference shows when you find upright controls uncomforting. Thats my take.

I like 'em. I plan on getting some forward running boards for the bike as well.

I made forward controls for my Thruxton for comfort:

But the one thing I notice is that you can't easily lift your weight off the seat, like when you see a bump coming. Other than that, the only complaint I have is that my legs get colder.
