Fork bottoms.

Are they alloy or steel?

Assuming they are alloy, has anyone ever polished the fork bottoms and taken them back to metal?

Just wondered because with gaiters that's how most cafe racers looked in the 60's. Especially Triton's.

Other Motorcycle: Don't need another one!
The lower fork legs (i.e. the parts that are painted black and move with the wheel) are made of alloy. I have seen photos of Bonnies where the legs have been stripped of paint and polished - they looked quite good.
