Hi there,
loving the TORs that I've recently installed.

I've a little popping on decelleration and wanted to try adjusting the mixture screw as a way to reduce the popping. Seems that some people like the popping and don't feel it has any risks and others claim it is not good for the bike's valves, etc.

I see that on the 03, the mixture screws are not open and need to be opened up.
What is the best way to do this? I've searched a few threads and it looks like there's a drilling technique, a screw and break technique, etc. Is there a foolproof method to do this?

I'm running tors with thruxton needles, 120 mains and a unifilter. Snorkel is still in.
Suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Chris

I just drilled mine last month for new silencers. I was leary about the screw removal technique because of the possibility of breaking/cracking the carb casings.

I loosened the carb from the rubbers intake side and airbox side turned the carbs towards the right side of the bike and didn't disconnect the throttle cables. (Watch for binding though) Then I just chose a extra small bit and drilled a pilot hole, being careful not to drill the adjustment screw underneath. After that I just kept moving up 1 drill bit size and removing metal until the cap spun off with bit. No biggie, just take your time.

Get a mirror and look at the plugs...they have a tiny hole in the center of them. I used a small drill bit and drilled the hole larger by hand. Then I screwed a long "grabber type" screw into the hole and pulled the plug out--I made a mini impact hammer to do this, but you could easily use pliers and wiggle the plug out. I didn't like the method some used where they drilled through the side of the "well" encasing the pilot screw just above the plug and pushed the plug out from above.
