Now that spring is here (YEEEEHAWWWW!!), i have noticed little rust spots have started to form on my rims and Rentec rack. How should I deal with this? Steel wool? How do I keep it from reoccurring? Is there some kind of rust preventative stuff?? :???:

I would not use steel wool, it could scratch up the chrome and just make it easier for new rust to form. Spray it with WD-40 or similar and wipe off with a rag, should wipe right off if caught in time.
Could also use some stainless steel polish, it will also protect it from further corrosion if you apply regularly.

I know what I am about to say is strange. However it does work. Clean it with aluminium foil and coke.

I'd say metal polish, then a coat of wax. Thats what I 've done since day 1, and no rust

give it a wipe with WD40 then keep it polished with pledge, both are non abrasive, metal polish will eventually compound the problem.

If the rust looks like it's around the spoke holes in the rims (as mine was) you should be able to get your dealer to put in a claim, & get a new rim fitted.

Get used to it- very common on the Triumphs. Lousy chrome!! If its surface rust- use WD or some mildchrome cleaner. If the rims are like mine - use never dull & some wax/ polish. I keep on top of mine wipe w/ rag- polish after rides. No detail- just a quick wipe. Keeps things under control! GREAT BIKES- LOUSY CHROME!! Gotta take the good w/ the bad.
