So in 15 years on the roads, I'd never gotten a ticket until this morning. Unlike my wife, who somewhat routinely gets tickets for things like going 87 in a 55 (that was my all-time favorite of hers) in a Hyundai Elantra (!), my perfect record was ruined for a stupid 35 in a 25 zone. I routinely ride about 40 on the road that I got the ticket, so I guess I was lucky that it took this long. But man, what a silly way to ruin a perfect record.
For what it's worth, I can't really complain - the cop was in plain sight, and he was a friendly enough guy. I just felt like I wasn't going very fast, and traffic is always around 40 there, so I have this kind of unclean feeling like I just took one for the team or something. Whatever.

I was breaking in my race bike on our local highways last weekend, and got nailed for 90 in a 60, but the guy lowered it to 70 in a 60 when he saw that I have no speedo and I explained what I was doing and that it wouldn't be seen on a highway again. Nice guy! Saved me a couple hundred dollars.

35 in a 25 zone!
They must be hard up for money! Most will overlook that.

Congratulations
I have won more then I can count.
35 in a 25 zone he should of just slapped your hand and
sent you on your way.
Riding your Bonnie at 25 mph is not an easy thing to do.
Bill

I was really surprised to get a ticket - with a perfect record, they'd usually just give you a warning. But I guess some local residents were complaining that people were ignoring the speed limit, so they needed to come up with some proof that they're doing something about it, I think.
Did I mention the ticket is $118?

Sounds like you got off pretty easy, just 10 over.
Around here we see 25mph in residential, or areas around parks and schools. For those areas, I respect the posted limit out of deference to kids and pedestrians. My guess is its not that type road, otherwise you'd have kept this on the down and low.
On more open country roads however, I'd be fortunate for just 10mph over.

Sorry a little off the topic but what really gets me is speed camera's over here. Govt has always maintained the Speed Camera's are in place to help save lives. My a$% they are, they are a revenue earner for the government and nothing more. Most deaths on the road (over here at least) are on open roads and not in the main cities, yet the speed camera's are set up on busy city roads were generally an impact will result in a damaged car but not usually death.
p.s. 17 years of driving and never a speeding ticket so far. My day will come though I'm sure.

If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times:
Don't flip off the cops while riding. Sheesh.
