Hi guys,

I really wanna paint my side covers scarlet red to match the rest of the colored parts on my bonnie:

Has anyone matched the color codes for the red color? And I don't have a sprayer and compressor and I wanna do this on a budget. I have a lot of experience doing rattlecan paintjobs on honda tanks, side covers, etc.

Can a car paint supplier (there's one down here in Auburn) put it in a spray can? Is that too weird to ask of them? Should I just bring a fender down to have them match it or something?

And has anyone else done this? Do you have pictures?

I believe that the Scarlet Red is Dupont RF2509, but haven't figured out what kind of silver that is on our tanks (warm silver IVC L2244 or flamboyant silver IVC L2399).
Does anyone know?

Is it the same as the Thruxton Red? I have color matched it. I also am looking to trade/buy black side covers. ~T~

Triumph has all the paint codes listed on their site, so you can match the (original, unfaded) color pretty easily. Match the current color, however, is going to be more difficult.

I was going to strongly recommend against a rattlecan job, as it's hard to get even a mediocre paint job out of them; but if you have previous experience doing it that way and think you'll get the results you want then that's probably the way to go. Most auto paint places can do that for you. Me, I use a Badger airbrush for small jobs. I've never done a big job.

Any auto body shop or auto body supply house that sells Dupont paint should be able to hook you up
