I have a yellow and black bike, the ding is in the yellow part of the tank. The paint is not at all damaged and it is not noticable unless I point it out- (my wife noticed it but wives notice everything). Can it be fixed?? or just forget it? I was thinking of "Dent Doctor", but my dealer said if you mess with it you'll wreck the paint. Any suggestions?? :???:

take it to a good body shop they can take the ding out & repaint it personally if nobody see it unless you point it out i don't think i would do anything with it

It makes for a good charactor mark. If anyone ever rips it off - God forbid - You can identify it more easily.

Thanks- that's a great idea!! Positive identification of my bike in case it is stolen. Also, I can tell anyone who notices it that in 2004, Triumph made some test motorcycles in the speedmaster line that have twice the horsepower and three times the torque as a normal speedy. The reason for the indentation in the fuel tank is due to a special internal high performance electric fuel pump. If they believe me then I can sell them the property I own a mile from the North Pole :-D

I recieved a much larger "ding" in my tank that the dent doctors would not touch. I got 1 qoute from a body shop that would remove the dent and repaint my tank for $300.00! I was patient and waited until a tank went up on e-bay and won it for 175.00.

I'll have to stop reading these type of posts, I had a dream (nightmare) last night that I dropped the bike and put a huge ding in the tank, verrrry ugly one too, and my tank was yellow????

Is your tank installed correctly. I know a member that removed his tank for what ever and when he installed it , it was on top of the foward rubber mounts, making the tank higher. The mounting bolt installed fine but when he turned his bars for parking, they contacted the tank causing a small dent.
