Anyone have any exp ordering from them? Is shipping reasonable? They seem to have some good prices after exchange rate.

The exchange rate sucks now for the American dollar vs the English Pound. It's $2(+) for every 1 GBP.

Yeah, but it's brilliant for me!

I save a fortune buying from british customs and newthruxton compared to mototwin and Norman Hyde. I got my keihin CR's, plugs, leads, ignition box and other goodies for about 1/2 to 2/3's of the prices over here, including delivery.

May the pound be ever stronger!

Be careful I'm not sure Mototwin exists anymore, you can however get some of their products from other sources.
I bought a Grey Top seat, I love how it looks and feels, it's narrower than the stock seat which is handy for a short ass like me. However it was a long way of being a bolt on.

First of all you need the hooks from the underside of your stock seat and fit them to the new seat.

Then I had to trim down the tank lug with a coping saw in order to make it narrow enough to slide under the tank mount, drill a few holes on the underside, and the seat mounting bolt lugs are very cheap and way out of line with the frame.

Fortunately they're only bolt on's so I removed them and made my own bracket to attach the seat.

I love it but it was about a days messing around to fit it.

However that was on a 790cc T100 maybe the Thrux or 865cc T100 have slightly different frame loops.

I bought one item from Mototwin about 2 yrs ago and it was delivered as promised; worked and fit as promised. No complaints about product quality or customer service.

The exchange rate on the other hand was enough to stop me buying from any UK vendors. And that was 2 yrs ago.

I think that technically Mototwin did go out of busines but they sold all their inventory to another company who took over the website. You'll want to double check this however.

MotoTwin was sold to Mike Fotherby, a noted Velocette expert. I think the name of his Velo business is Grove's Classics, or something like that. Anyways, and not to speak for them... Mike is working hard at getting all the suppliers in-line and spares back on the shelves.

As I remind people all the time, these are not high volume product parts. They're typically made by very small "cottage industry" shops in small batches.

Yup Grove Classics or something now, but they are fulfilling orders, I recently got the SS Silencers.

Shoot them an email and give them a couple days to respond if you want to check availabilty, before you place an order.

I'm with everyone else though, you might wait until that exchange rate goes back down, its up $0.25 Dollar to Pound from from when I bought something.

I ordered some stuff from them last year, no problems other than they was out of stock for some of the parts and I had to wait 1-2 weeks more.
I was also checking out the 2 US based suppliers, but with the mix of parts I ordered, Mototwin had the best prices. Especially the Renntec parts was much cheaper if I remember correctly.

Here's the last mail I got from them , back in october:
Quote:
Hi Guys

As you will have seen from the last mail we sent Mototwin has changed hands. Restocking of parts is almost complete and we hope to be back to normal within the next couple of weeks. I am still involved in the new company and look forward to 'chatting bikes' with you in the future. Mike Fotherby is the new contact for most of you. Give either of us a call if you want to place an order or if you need any information about products. Alternatively mail us at tim.cole@mototwin.com

We'll be in contact again very shortly but in the meantime please note our new contact details below. We look forward to hearing from you.
