I just completed NARKing the blue girl over the week end. Results were about as expected with an increase in acceleration along with an increase in intake noise, not objectionable. My stock fuel valve had been sticking and not wanting to go to reserve and when I did get it to go to reserve, the fuel flow was trivial. Since the tank was off, I started the Pingle mod. But before committing to the file operation, I decided to checkout the old valve. I tore down the valve and found the innerds packed with a very very fine mud like substance in the valve body. So, I cleaned that up, cleaned the sock over the valve tubes and the filter hidden in the carb tee fitting. I also borrowed a bore scope and peeked around inside the tank. There was some more of the mud material in the corners of the tank but no signs of corrosion. I don't know whether the sludge came from switching to the corned gas or was already in the tank and just got softened up and moved to the valve at about the time ethanol was mandated. At any rate, I flushed out the tank and re installed the old valve and called it a day so I could take a ride. It will be interesting to see if more crud collects on the screens and valve body. The float bowls, by the way, were relatively free of crud when I re jetted with the kit.
