After watching two guys on I75 do 90mph wheelies on crotch rockets as they flew by me on my way home, I went home to wrench on my bike after work yesterday. Heard about 10 sirens and knew someone went down nearby.

Motorcyclist hit and killed by a car
STAFF REPORT
SARASOTA COUNTY — A Sarasota man was killed Friday after a car slammed into his motorcycle near the intersection of Beneva and Markridge roads.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. Peter Slabyhoudek, 36, of the 3800 block of Calliandra Drive, was riding his motorcycle south on Beneva Road. Jennifer K. June, 25, of the 2900 block of Markridge Road, was at the intersection attempting to turn south onto Beneva Road.
June turned directly into the path of Slaybhoudek, according to the report.

Slaybhoudek, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. June was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

Charges are pending in the crash.

-Not the same bikes I saw earlier, but still a fatality. This was in my backyard, literally a block from my house. My dad lives down the street and called to make sure it was not me. Traffic was stopped for 4 hours and there are stains on the road that aren't radiator fluid.
As I'm typing this, the news is on talking about another guy without a helmet dying about 50 miles away from me. Also yesterday afternoon. Please think about your family and the other motorists who may be affected by careless driving or your decision not to wear a helmet.

I live on an island with less than 500,000 people, with 60% older than 60. So far this yr we have lost 5 to motorbike accidents and countless more injuries.

Be in the right frame of mind before you ride and pls take care people.
