I got caught in some rain, not the first time and when I headed out today the turn signals weren't working. Checked the mini manual for fuse location. That is useless since it is in conflict with the fuse box lid. Anyway, the 10A fused looked OK but was replaced anyway. I opened up the switch on the handlebar and could see no moisture. I did undue the handlebars to remove the forks to put on gaiters but only moved them slightly forward, certainly not off. I have also put dielectric grease on the various and connectors but that was last month. I am searching for a solution here in hope that I don't have to use the dealer and hope the warranty covers the problem. Thanks in advance.

I'm worthless on your problem (did the dielectric thing and try to avoid the rain) but was that you on SM Pkwy headed towards the Plaza this afternoon? Bonnie sightings are rare in KC so I got a little excited.

your turn signal relay/flasher is probably full of water.

It happened to mine after I washed the bike. It's under your left side cover, it's a black box about 1'' x 3''.

I opened mine (it's a connector thingy) and a few mL of water ran out. I let it dry about 24 hours, smeared it full of dielectric grease and reconnected it. After reconnecting it I ran a bead of RTV around the seam where the 2 halves met to avoid getting water in there again.

Now that you mention it, I took the side cover off and there are what appear to be two relays side by side. The rear one was flopping around because the rubber band was rotted. Is this relay/flasher you are talking about? Wondering if the flopping could have damaged It? Thanks.

the rotten rubber holder can be replace by a stout rubber band.
The turn signal box is the foward most one, with a three blade connector.

You might want to give the relay a shot of WD-40 (stands for Water Displacing Formula number 40) which might help.

The other thing I have done is take off the water comprised device and use the gentle setting on a hair dryer and warm it.

yep, my rubber was rotted too. I zip tied it back.

I had the same problem after washing my bike. Found the relays with water in them. Dried them out and problem solved.

Mine had also broken from the flimsy rubber mount. I zip tied them so they would be secured.

Havent had a problem since.

Okay boys, I'm going to give a brief tutorial on washing the bike. First use the mildest appropriate soap, like a branded car washing soap--Mequiars is good. Don't use dishwashing detergent, especially Dawn, unless you are planning to rewax the bike. Two, rinse it with a GENTLE SHOWER OF WATER. Three, put the hose away. The great majority of the Bonnie is detail cleaning, the kind of stuff you do with a minimum amount of water. Anything that you can supposedly spray on and hose off, without any effort in between, is too strong for the bike.

There, now I've taken my hand off my hip and I'm not feeling quite so bossy anymore. Whew, you boys and your hoses!
