So I got the knee pads yesterday and will be sticking them on some time soon. My thought was to put a little isopropyl alcohol on the sides of the bike so I have a little slip before they stick, so I can position them right. Any tips or tricks to getting them aligned perfectly? I suspect this is yet another task that would be easier with the center stand...

I made small marks with a pencil to align them. Marks wipe right off afterwards.

make lines on the tank with masking tape. try and measure it out, or use reference points so its even on both sides.

I just installed mine and thought I had them even but they weren't. So I heated one up with the hairdryer and peeled it off and put it on lightly and do this several times until my reference points were right then I pressed it down tight and their fine now!

Just about impossible to see both of them at the same time so even if they are a little off - the only one to know is you... yea, that will keep you awake at night.
For a good stick, get the wax off the tank, degrease. get the tank warm (carefully, duh) press on. Bang with your fist, alot, (without denting the tank, duh)
