I've recently installed the (X)ARK kit with the pod type air filters. Has anyone, or should anyone oil them? I was concerned about water if caught in the rain & was suggested this by someone who had experience with Bonnies from 'back in the day' If one was to oil them, what would you use, the UNI oil...?

I'm assuming you're using the Uni filters. I think they already come pre-oiled (the K&N's for sure do). Uni might sell a cleaning kit that would include filter oil (K&N makes a kit as well). Cleaning and re-oiling shouldn't need to be done more than once a year.

I got my kit from BellaCorse, the K&N knockoffs seem pretty dry to me, I didn't get any oil transfer while installing them. The instructions made no mention either way. So does that mean they indeed should be oiled?

Are your filters paper or a cloth fiber?

K&N makes a spray cleaner and aerosol spray-on oil for their pod filters. I clean mine when I get a gray-blackish tint in the folds of the filter, then a light spray coat of oil until I get an off-pink color.

Your neighborhood auto parts store may have the K&N cleaning-oiling kit in stock. However, I would not use oil on a paper-type filter.

I just installed the BellaCorse kit and my filters seemed to have been pre-oil'd...there was "oil" on the rubber inlet that I had to clean the***** out of so they wouldn't pop off...Racedweeb...Can you confirm this, that the ARK filters are already oil'd?
