I just a new bike and I woke up this morning pulled it out of the garage this morning and then opened the choke and started my bike. Well it started to smoke out of my exhaust and it smelt like oil and looked blue but after a a couple of seconds it went away and I drove to work I didn't notice or really look in the garage to see if there was a puddle but I don't think there was. Is my bike okay? The temp over the night was about 55.

After I bought my 06 speddy, I found a small puddle of "oil" on the ground and went to the dealer and ask "what gives" and it turns out that when the bikes are built they cover them with a chemical called Cosmolean and it is supposed to keep the salty air from damaging the bike on the trip across the pond. While I am bike stupid, sometimes the dealer doesn't always get all that stuff off.

On the other hand I may be talking out of my ars and be completely wrong.

Just my $00.02 worth

Thanks, I think with the 07's not sure though that they don't use that stuff anymore and everything comes in plastic but I could be wrong. Also I have 100 miles on it.

With the choke on and cold it was probably fuel you saw burning and not oil. Keep an eye on things til you get used to the bike. If it is oil, get it back for warranty.

Other Motorcycle: my g/f 07 America
Extra Motorcycle: my g/f 07 America
So...I have two 07 Americas and they were both covered in that cosmoline stuff...I know cause I saw them...kinda like a newborn baby
The stuff gets everywhere and itll be buring off for a while. My bike is at almost 300 miles and I still smell it. My girls bike is under 100 and the garage smells like that stuff after she rides.
My bikes also blow a tad of smoke when warming up but its just like when my truck warms up. Looks like smoke but its just hot and cold air mixing...add to that the smell of burning cosmoline and I dont think you have much to worry about.

lol...for you Apocalypse Now fans..."I love the smell of cosmoline in the morning"...LOL :flam:
