Earlier Bonnies had a problem with the crankcase breather blowing oil into the airbox. Most were covered under warranty. Check with your dealer

I don't think the warranty thing will cover this, as its a '02 model. The oil level is correct.

What do you think about putting a little filter on the breather tube (planning to get rid of the air box and original filter for pods) or simply blocking it.

Something I noticed on the air box is a "drain off" tube, but its sealed. If one simply opens this tube ....... the excess oil will then drain out ????

Suggestions please ..........

Clean it out, not to worry.....
likely no more than a thimble or two, right?

It happens more often than not during and immediately after the break-in process. It can also happen later in your engine's life if you run it for an extended period of time at (very) high rate of speed. No big deal.

I generally run my motorcycle engines just short of completely full of oil. On the Bonnie, I like it to hover about two thirds up the inspection window (on the Beemer, no more than half up the window, and just above the window in my Fazer). Some people insist that they run smoother (less felt handlebar buzz), and will burn LESS oil over time.

Learn the characteristics of your bike's engine.

Yeah no problems .............. the only thing is, is that the filter gets messed up !!!! So yet another reason to get rid of the air box and filter and get some pods on, re jet and top off the crankcase breather tube with a small filter and down the road we go :chug: :chug: :chug:

Filter on the crankcase vent tube is OK--"blocking it" is NOT OK. :-D
