Hi all,

So I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but I notice that when I'm done riding any significant distance (at least 10 miles, we'll say) my rear brake rotor is too hot to touch. The front rotor is usually cool or slightly warm. And before the obvious question is asked, no, I don't rest my foot on the brake pedal - when I'm not braking, I rest the ball of my foot on the peg (I like the little bit of lean that gives). I took it in to the dealer, who measured the runout in the rotor and said it's fine, and it's normal. Do you all agree?

The pins that hold the pads in place can become corroded and cause the pads to hang up a bit. Pull those pins, clean them up, and lightly lube them with brake friendly grease.

If you havent been using the brake it should be cool or warm just like your front. It must be binding slightly even when the brake pedal is released, check the pins as jimbonnie suggests. You should be able to see the pads pull back very slightly from the rotor when the brake pedal is released. Do I agree with your dealer? No he is talking *****.

No, it is NOT "normal". How many miles do you have on bonnie? If the rear pads rub that much, they will wear out in a few thousand miles. Some have said their rear pads were gone after only 4000 miles. If you have another dealer within 75 miles, I would suggest taking it to them unless you want to fix it yourself.
