Hi everybody

i just bought an extremely expensive pair of spacers and end caps from France. To shorten my forks by 22mm in the form of the Mecatwin fork lowering kit..

So I'm determined to do it this way.

The spacers go on top of the stock springs to add a little more compression I guess. The caps tidy up the exposed fork ends.

I have Hagon 320mm Road shocks for the back, so the bike will be lowered pretty symmetrically.

However I'm thinking of going with Hagon progressive springs as I've heard very good reports and It's also likely that my suspension will be more of an equal match between back and front.

Has anyone used this Mecatwin Kit before?

(There stuff is know for expense but has a good reputation).

Will I need to add the internal spacers from the Mecatwin kit as well as the Hagon progressives?

Or should I leave them out?

I'm thinking about the fork travel here.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Jon (UK)

This is what I'm on about. The Mecatwin Fork lowering Kit.

wbl,

That Mecatwin kit is very expensive for what it does. Sorry to have to show this, but the same type of spacers go on ebay for £20:

bonnie fork spacer kit

I have Hagon progressive's on my bike, standard spacer tubes in. I'm 17stone in my Y's and they work fine, I don't think you'll need extra spacers with them. The spacers are meant for standard springs I think.

I looked at the fork top decorations myself when I pulled my fork tubes through by 1/2" (sorry I don't do metric) but opted in the end for wrapping black tape round them. It looks ok and cost absolutely nothing.

I found that after pulling the forks through there wasn't enough room between the mudguard and the horn on full bump, so I relocated it on the rhs under the tank.

Lowering the front certainly improves turn in. I've lowered my Thrux 25mm in front and the Thrux has a smaller front wheel so I doubt you'll have any problems. I have no experience on the Bonnie, but Hagon progressives certainly make a difference on the Thrux. As to the expense .... well you've done it. I just dropped the yokes and the forks poke through a little.... No cash outlay.
