I used some surplus 1-1/2" OD tubing to fabricate a simple shop stand that temporarily attaches to the factory center stand frame tabs. "Version 1" shown below has the uprights on the outboard side of the frame tabs. It works well, and is very stable. With the telescopic riser tubes in the "up" position, there's plenty of clearance to allow blocking the frame up for easy front wheel removal. I'm going to weld up "Version 2" today with the uprights positioned inside the frame tabs....it will be a little easier to install and be useful also on Thruxtons where the exhaust is tucked in a little closer to the frame in that area.
The floor jacks are nice, so long as you're careful not to squash your oil filter or knock the bike off of them, but this little home fabbed tool is light and easy to use, takes up virtually no storage space and best of all......free.
