guys,
I changed out the brake pads front and rear on my son's Transalp about three months ago. The fronts I put in were original Nissin type, the rears were another make because the shop (Honda main dealer) were out of stock of originals.
I was replacing his chain and sprockets yesterday, as I dropped the rear wheel out I was horrified to see the friction material fall off the steel backing plates on the brake pads.
There are more pictures on my album which show that the friction material and backing plates must have parted company soon after they were fitted, you can see the rust on the plates where the bonding used to be:

I also had a set of front and rear pads for the Scrambler, made by the same company, which I exchanged at my Triumph dealer today for genuine Triumph ones. I will not buy after market brake parts again, I'll just pay up for the original ones whatever they cost.
