I am wanting to drill the slides per jenk's but am wondering if anyone had anything negative to say about it before I took the plunge as it is a non reversable deal. Also, for those who did it, did you just use a hand drill using the hole for a pilot? Any feedback positive or negative is appreiciated.

If your concerned about not being able to reverse the end result by drilling the slide why not just fit a lighter spring?

Accomplishes the same end result in he slide lifting faster, and it's reversible.

SCCTrim, maybe an elementary question, but do you have a part number for the lighter spring? I am having the throttle debate myself, but don't know what spring to buy to try it out. Thanks.

I drilled mine out to 9/64" on a small drill press.
It went through easy, it is a very thin wall.
I'm sure you can do it with a hand drill.
I had on problems and, I noticed a better a much better
throttle response.

Sorry, I have no idea of the part # but I'm sure if you took the springs to a shop they could hook you up.

I opted for better throttle response in the form of Mikuni HSR 42mm carbs :-)

Altering the holes and the spring weight are different and should not be confused.
The spring controls the height of the needle the hole controls the speed that the slide gets to the particular height.

Why do you want to drill the holes?
It will not release hidden HP

Beter throttle response is the goal, the larger hole allow's the slide to "lift" quicker. Much like a softer slide spring would, or at least you would think so...

Talked to the Honda dealership owner today. He said drilling the slide is a good idea and may slightly help a rich condition at low RPMs. He also said that changing the spring is not the way to go. He says that the jetting kits they sell actually come with a drill bit for the slide and that there really are no drawbacks to increasing the hole. Sounds good enough for me, I've got my wrenches in hand. :hammer:

So guys,

I am going to show my ignorance it two areas...

1. Does anyone have a diagram/photo/great explaination as to what you are talking about with drilling the slide? I would really like to improve my throttle response and it sounds like this will do the trick.

2. When you guys are referring to Jenk's what are you talking about. I went to Jenk's Bolts, but didn't see anything that looked like it would give advice on this type of thing.

Thanks.
