Ok, Triumph summer shield or flyscreen? I need some protection, but not much. Anyone have a summer screen? And what about flyscreens? Do they actually work? Or is it as one of you put it, they keep the bugs off the instruments?

I am returning a Rifle adjustable shield to the store, on a T100 with tach and speedo, the mounting arms obscure both. The sales brochure says "may partially cover instruments". IMHO, very nice product, but the mounting ruins the view of the tach/speedo.

I had a summer screen that came on the bike, and sold it. It directs a whole bunch of air to your head and feels like you are getting beat up constantly. I am 6'3" and it hit my entire face. Maybe if you are under 5'3", it won't beat you up so bad.

The FlyScreen looks WAAAAYYYYY cooler, and it actually works a little. Puts the wind on your chest.

I don't think the flyscreen does much as far as wind blast is concerned. It doesn't for me (I'm almost 6ft tall), but I added it because I like the look. I ride sitting up, maybe crouching down would show some benefit from the flyscreen.

I bought a used bonnie with the summer screen on it. I'm 5'10 and get wind in my face but if I lean over the tank just a little it is very nice with the wind directed around you. All in all I like having it there for some protection when I need it.

My vote is for the Omar's Bikini Fairing. Doesnt offer much in the way of protection from the wind but does pull much of it off your chest.

...and it look's cool too.

Besides the obvious issue of "supply & demand," why is the Triumph Fly Screen like $190? I've been thinking about getting one, but that's a good bit of cash for a concave chunk of plastic with a hole in it.

The slipstreamer SPIT FIRE is in between the two and cheap and works well. Nation Cycle make a similar shield. Rifle solo shield is nice but expensive.

I have the summer screen and have been very happy with it. I'm 5'8" and it protects me from the wind and any buffeting. In my opinion, it also looks very nice and fits the lines/styling of the bike.
