Hi Gents,
New Guy here. Yesterday I put a deposit on a new left over 06 Bonnie Black (790cc). It was discounted just over $1200 compared to an 07 (865cc).
Now I'm starting to have second thoughts and I'm wondering if I should just pony up the extra money for the 07.
In real world riding is there really that much of a difference?
To add to my indecision the dealer offered me a $500 gift certificate if I buy the 07.

Thanks

The difference is marginal, IMHO. I'd save your money.
You'll need it for all the mods you'll be making...

Welcome!

Spend that money on a big bore kit.

Extra Motorcycle: '99 SV650 (for sale!)
Buy the '07.

The 865 motor, if I'm not misinformed, is tuned more for torque. The 790 motor has hotter cams, and has a better top-end hit.

I'd bank the extra $1200, ride the heck out of the thing, and when you're bored with it (like that's going to happen) spend the $1200 on a big-bore kit (and have plenty of change left over).

In "real world riding"......
no, you wouldn't have appreciated the extra cc's of the 865. How do I know? I don't KNOW with certainty, but if my little 790cc is keeping up with and racing right along side Japanese liter bikes....... than how can I possibly think that another 75cc's would make ANY difference????

You're soon gonna be yet ANOTHER happy owner of a Black, the BESTEST looking engine!
:-D

You did the right thing! I bought the T100 because I liked some of the little extras, but I wouldn't have been the least bit disappointed with a 790cc. And the Bonnie Black looks awesome when it's nicely accessorized. (That sounds so gay, but it's true!)

buy the 790 and big bore it later. This can be done for about the same money you've saved, and you'll have a lot more power than the 865.

Well yes, it's great looking as it is. What I mean is that a lot of accessories, especially the Sixty8 collection, look better on the BB than anything else.

Jeez - some guys just can't take a compliment! :-D
