I decided today, they take too long to re-fill on reserve.
sometimes, Triumph does know best, and I will man up and admit this is one of those times.
dinky little stock strainer and pre-formed line going back on asap

..... yeppers, I made the same mistake. And I STILL have it in place!?!?! Someday (soon?) it's coming outa there.

With the auto filter in place, it takes almost a half mile of sputtering at freeway speeds before the reserve kicks in. Prior to installing the auto filter, my technique has been to quickly switch to reserve, yank on the choke for a hot second, *BAM* instant gas feeding my carb's!

Sputtering and slowing for a half mile in the middle lane is no fun, lemme tell you!

you dont need a pingel. think about this, if you disconnect your fuel line, with the stock petcock, it will drain your tank in about 2 minutes. do you think your engine requires more flow than that?
pingel cost 80 bucks.

I don't have a Pingel, but they are supposed to turn on and off much more freely than the stock petcock. The advertisement that they will flow more fuel may be true; however, you sure don't need more fuel flow than the stock petcock provides.

As far as fuel filters on gravity fed systems, I have never known of a manufacturer using them--but then again I don't know much. The common thing I have seen on gravity fed systems is screens like Triumph uses. :-D I did put a filter on my old Ford 8N tractor because of the rusty tank--you'd think they would have built them better than that in 1952. :-D I haven't had any problems with the filter on the gravity fed tractor; however I try to keep the tank full, and the 8N gets way better fuel mileage than a Triumph. :-D

Like Redbird says, we have gravity fed systems and those auto in-line filters are being used in a pressurized situation. The microns of the filter are fine.
