G'Day all, new member and love the site. Today i have but my deposit on a new 2006 bonniville (late model 2006). The dealer had two left, both black but one with the black engine and one with the silver engine. He talked me into the silver but i think i prefer the black. Is there any 'marking or scratching' issues with the black? The dealer thinks the silver will ofer better resale but i wont be selling for sometime and i cant see why this would be the case. I have to call 1st thing in the morning if i change my mind and should be picking it up tom arvo. Just want to know what u guys think and if the black marks easy.
Cheers :???: :???:

I have no experience with the paint. But if you like the black, GO WITH IT! I really like the look. But there is no logic or facts backing up my reply here. I just think if your gut tells your black, go with it. I had a similar color issue with my thruxton. I couldn't decided between the 4 colors on the market and almost commited to one I wasn't 100 about. I very glad I waited, because the blue is perfect in my eyes

I prefer the black engine casing too.

Can't think why the silver would have better resale value than the black.

Something's not right......
he's pushing a particular bike like he really cares (about YOU!?!).
-- Gimme a break --

One engine finish is no better than the other, and both are just as durable. The way I see it.... I LOVE my black engine 'cause it's got attitude.

I think you could force his hand if you were looking to save some money. As you will soon learn though, it's not about the money..... it's about getting/doing what you want. This Bonnie will soon be a reflection of YOU and YOUR 'tude!

Don't listen to us (or the salesman), go with yer gut....

It's simply a matter of preference... like picking the color for your car. Personally, I like the "vertical twinness" (hey, I jusy made up a word ) to stand out and be more visible. Hence my black Bonnie with silver engine.

I want a real retro look and am going with silver for the engine.

If you look at reference books with Triumphs of the 50's and 60's they all have silver engines.

It's all personal choice.
