I tried a scrambler with the TOR mufflers the other day and though they sound great they are perhaps a bit too loud for urban use - for me anyway. Has anyone compared them to the NZ powersports in terms of noise? I want a better noise than stock but perhaps not as loud as the TOR ones - any thoughts?

Also steering dampners on the scrambler any one tried any? http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194751[addsig]

TORs are the most quiet performance muffler, afaik.
if they are too loud, you better leave the stockers on

Davo!!

Sorry mate but, "TOR's" and "To loud" should never be together in the same sentence.

Canberra, being the capital of Australia, is a Conservative town but......."To loud for TOR's :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2: :roflmoa2:

The Thunderbike pipes are definitely louder than the TOR's, which in my opinion, is a good thing.

Thunderbike pipes are the sexiest sounding Bonnie pipes offered! They aren't annoyingly loud, but they sure as hell ain't quiet..... It's the tone that comes outa them what makes 'em the best sounding pipes a guy could put on his Bonneville.

I'm sooooo totally outa money, but if I could find buyers for BOTH my custom D&D's and the scratched up / pitted Predators, AND happened upon some reverse cone Thunderbike pipes....... they'ed be on MY bike, THAT'S fersure!

Davo,

The Hyde pipes I fitted are not as noisy as tor's (at lower revs) but rasp a bit when revved hard. I have the little mute sleeves fitted as supplied, but I now have a pair of VW Beetle mutes to try when I get back from work (next week) I want to have a quiet option for touring later in the year.

Scrambler / Hyde pipes

ps. Davo, I had a Hyde steering damper fitted when I was trying to iron out high speed handling issues, it worked ok but I fixed the problems better by changing other things. I sold the damper on to a Thruxton owner in Paris.

I was in contact with Staintune last week and they reckon that they will have a prototype set of exhausts done by late this week. I was actually hoping that they would do a double sided job, but it will be same setup as stock, with the Staintune noise.

$1250 AU I believe.

Had a few staintunes in the past and like the baffle in, baffle out stainless approach.

Maybe I should wait.

It will give me some time to get the readies together.

BTW Is it full pipes they are making or just the mufflers - usually quality kit so it may be worth the high entry price?

I like the look of TOR's and I wanted to keep my Scrambler looking "stock", so they suited me fine. If you rejet the bike correctly, you should be able to still drive quietly when leaving your house at 5am, but also get loud when that person is talking on the phone and changing lanes into you. They don't make much noise at lower RPM's.

Mufflers only I think - check their website over the next days/weeks

Cheers
