I had heard about the stock inline jobbie getting clogged, and when I looked at mine sure enough it had stuff in it, not enough to block flow but definitely crappy. So I took it out and ran some quality hose and a automotive type inline filter, and that works fine.
Except if you dont pay attention and turn on reserve at the first stumble, it'll take longer to get fuel, as I found yesterday. Not a deal buster perhaps, but something to look out for. Maybe a smaller filter would be better

If you ever have the opportunity to pull the stock fuel valve, you will see a very fine screen on both the reserver and main inlet pipes, in the tank. Hard to imagine anything getting past them.

I added an in-line automotive fuel filter BEFORE inspecting the filters in my tank. They really ARE fine..... ain't nothing gonna get past those things!

Someday I'll be taking the additional filter outa the mix, AND inspecting the filter in my tank.... just based on.

As suggested above, it's pretty annoying IF NOT DANGEROUS to hafta wait so danm long for the reserve to kick in! That extra filter just gets in the way. It's not cool to be sputtering for about 3/4's mile before you get enough gas to accelerate outa harms way.

Same here, just pulled the tap to inspect the screens and after 23,000 K still like new. Nothing big getting thru that screen.

I put the Pingel hi-flow fuel valve and the Pingel in line filter in my Bonnie-plenty of gas, no problems and no dirt.
