Hi there,

I would like to get new low handlebars for my Bonnie (currently have the Super Bars) in order to get a more adequate riding position with the Norman Hyde rearsets.

I'm thinking of the Norman Hyde M-bars, but I also heard of Harley Davidson Drag Bars.

The handlebars would also have to fit my CRG bar end mirrors.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

The M bars do a good job of replicating wannabe clip on's, and they have a distinctive 'look' to them. I've used them right side up with risers, without risers, and the best handling characteristics were via their lowest position.... upside-down (or.... maybe that's "right side up" to some). You're gonna hafta decide for yourself if you can adjust to the resulting wrist angles, and there are quite a few different angles to be had with these bars. I like them.

Harley Davidson "Night Train" or their 'drag bars' (one in the same) don't work UNLESS you mount them on some risers..... they hit the tank or tank badges on full lock. A couple of us run these because we have the Thruxton tubes with the adjustable preload dealy sticking outa the top of our tubes. Risers is the only way we can clear them on our Bonnie's.

Soooo.... you chose to go Norman Hyde rear sets..... Do they afford you the clearance you were looking for?

FattRat,
Thanks for the heads-up on the M bars and HD bars.
As for the NH rearsets, so far so good!

You could try turning the stock bars upside down. Depends on how low you want to go.

stock bars upside down won't work without some taller risers.

I say go for the M bars.

Just put M-bars on 10 minutes ago. Did them upside down style so that they are lower. They clear the tank by about 3/16" (sorry, not gonna convert that to metric). Riding position looks much less like Mary Poppins now. Feels better on that back to have a neutral spine instead of all arched up with the stock bars. Gonna see how it corners tomorrow when these beers wear off.

A few notes when changing bars. Put a towel on your tank so that the stock mirrors and stuff don't bump it when taking the bars off. I stuck the left grip under the hot water spigot in my laundry sink for 30 seconds. Pulled it out and pulled hard at first, but once the rubber started cooling after another 30 seconds it pulled right off no sweat. Lastly, helps to have someone hanging out with you when you put the new bars on to hold the brake and clutch stuff so they aren't banging around while you adjust. Also helps to have a set of eyes looking at the bike from the front to make sure everything is on straight while you make adjustments. Next up are the bar-ends. Have fun. :upthumb:
