Installed my EMGO/Burgess mufflers last night (Wow those are LOUD  ) And around the u-clamps before the muffler I can feel a little bit of exhaust on my hand. I never checked that with the stock units, & don't know if a little bit of seepage is o.k./normal. I thought I'd cranked them down pretty hard & am not sure I can get them much tighter. Going to re-jet & remove the air box ASAP. I just wanted to start it up last night to get an indication of the volume!

Take em back apart, use some high temp silicone, red or black, redo the connections, wipe off excess silicone and bobs yer uncle

J.P. Use some high temperature silicone (RTV) at the joint, otherwise you'll see carbon leakage at the joints.

I thought that could have been the case, but the stock pipes seemed to be clean & devoid of any silicone. Thanks!

I put the same EMGO pipes on my 04 Bonnie and they are loud aren't they!

Agree with the other guys, the high temp silicone is very necessary or you will get some leakage.

It doesn`t have to be "hi-temp"just silicon caulk. The good 25 year stuff for windows and doors is good for any temp your mufflers will see..

Proper clamps would greatly help.

As RaceDweeb said, proper clamps. I've had 2 different after market pipes and both had proper clamps. I didn't use any RTV or anything else. In fact 1 set of the rite clamps came from RaceDweeb. I have no carbon showing on my pipes.
