Scrambler owners, with fly screen.

I need to know how to remove the bolts securing the wire guide, there is hardly any space in there. What tool did you use and did you have to remove the head lamp? .

Thanks.

Use a hex (allen) wrench to remove the headlamp from the shell.

IIRC, a 12mm wrench removes the headlamp shell bolts. The bolts go through the headlamp bracket, a spacer, a rubber damper pad, the shell then a captive nut (with the wire guide) inside the headlight shell.

Its a fiddly job and you need a set of torx keys to undo and remove the wire holding bracket and do up the bolts for the screen.

I needed to add some rubber washers for to the screen mounts as they were not in the kit - I used thick rubber tap washers.

f650blue,

Not for the first time, I did it the hard way. Well, it seemed easier to me in the long run. I pulled off the top yoke because I couldn't get my sausage fingers in to do the bolts up nice and tight.

Panthercity, Davorallyfan and JohnyC.

Thank you.

That is exactly the information that I need to install the screen.

JohnyC, I too was about to remove the yoke but decided to ask in here first.

Now to the store to get some torx keys and extra rubber washers in case I need them.

I appreciate all your advice.

Yes and no.

Yes it creates a noticable difference and takes wind off your chest and looks neat IMO (highly subjective).

No in that a bigger screen... say the deflector would probably offer more protection and would not look too out of place either.

I'd say go the ...something cycle deflector screen (U.S.)
