I just recieved the bafflectomy kit. Cool! (Thanks Doug) Previously, I saw a detailed instruction with pictures, and now that I need it, I can't seem to find it. I'd appreciate any help! :hammer: :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

I just did the bafflectomy on my 2007 Bonnie last weekend. I tried to drill down the lip on the very back of the pipe as advised, but that was slow going. Ended up taking an 8" grinder and just grinding 1/8" off the back of the pipe ontil the lip came out with the baffle. Looks clean, I don't miss the thick finished edge. Then I drilled five 1/4" holes on the second baffle with the drill extension. Sounds way more like a motorcycle now, a little more attention at lights.

Drawbacks: I think I need to richen my idle mixture. The bike labors a bit at the bottom of each gear unless I am punching it pretty hard. Feels flat in slow areas like corners and parking lots and seems a little off when maintaining a constant speed. I am sure it's correctable as soon as I get some time to mess with it this weekend. Overall, definitely a possitive change, and cheap as well.

Glad to see the kit is still making its way around. I got it from Loxpump (original owner) in the fall and in my more conceited moments I like to think that I had a hand in starting the journey. In my more lucid moments, I do recognize that all credit really goes to Loxpump. Both for the kit and the excellent photos.

Anyway, in response to TCL's comment on performance through the rpm range, idle mixture may be part of the issue. I found that my post-bafflectomy flat spot was around 2500-3000rpm. Thruxton needles fixed that in a hurry. Highly recommended from my buttfeel dyno but I suppose the right way to tell would be to put a sniffer (exhaust gas analzyer) on it.

If you really want to get technical, you could get the Jenks Bolts tuning guide for the bonnies. It tells you precisely what carbureation components effect performance at what rpm.

The drill bit must be getting a bit dulled by now, no?

Thanks Mojave Dave, no one here is aware that my name is DENNIS AND I LIVE IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA and I'm gonna keep it that way! :-D

SPete, you'll be happy to know that the packaging you sent the kit in was used again with a bit more tape and postage paid as you did for me. Wonder how long it will survive.

Illinois, New York, Florida, California - that thing gets to travel more than I do.

Oh I forgot - while Loxpump provided the long shaft drill bit, I provided the hole saw.

I knew there was a substantive reason I felt some degree of pride in this kit.....

Off the soapbox now.

Wow! It's been coast to coast to coast! That's cool. What's more amazing to me is the weld. The first weld broke on me inside my muffler! Brought it back to work and had the guy redo it. This guy does alot of my personal projects, but our employer pays him for it so he doesn't mind! His last job was welding covers over the holes after I cut off the crossover pipe.

I just cut 2" off the end of the pipe & twisted. Then went went drillin for oil as long as it something hard to hit. Open clean- the - 2" looks real clean & makes it easier to hit the last reastrictor plate. Wanna look? C D's Bonne Black here somewhere
