I find it really hard to judge the distance of vehicles with the blue led lights.

Sure I see them but then can't tell how close or how far away they are.

I say unsafe and not a little bit chavy.

I have one laying in my parts box (been there for 20 + years I think) and have never put it on any thing -We used to put them on our Ford tailights (circa 1935 on up) but they were ruled illegal in Pa. where I grew up so they sort of disappeared. They are not a safety deal and IMHO do nothing for the machine except make it look like an old Ford Hot Rod. I can live without them.

I love 'em, they look ESPECIALLY cool in the rain! Here in Kalifornia it's a bust though.... and maybe the authorities have been enforcing the law 'cause just don't see them on the road (anymore).

Seven years ago I installed them in the (red) turn signal lenses of my Harley, but I think you need a larger red lens to fully appreciate the resulting effect. And oddly enough, that cool glow can not be appreciated up close & personal, you gotta be a bit of distance back....
========================================

I recently used some 'stain glass window' color treatment to make my amber lenses red (I have them hooked up to double as supplemental brake lights). If I stumble onto some amber dots (yes, they make 'em), I may stick those in the center of my now red turn signal/stop light lenses.... That way the flashing signals may be made more conspicuous via the amber dot. I recently learned from a fellow rider that my amber turn signals didn't register in his mind's eye as BRAKE lights when they were engaged, thus my having colored them red.

=========================================

People think I'm crazy, but I see the same Neon glow of the blue dot/red lens effect, coming from the distant glow of a red car with it's headlights on.....?!? Somebody wanna 'splain THAT to me?

Hey..... can't fault a guy doing whatever the hail he pleases without having to appeal to the likes of..... a stranger.

I say run yer own, and to those who choose to dictate what's 'right' or not, joke 'em if they can't take a phuck!

Jeez, before ya know it, Harleys'll be putting fork gaiters on their new Sportsters...... or is that exclusive to only those who feel they belong to a certain camp?

And what's up with LOUD PIPES? Bonnevilles trying to be like Harleys?!?!!? Whas up wit' THAT!
