Some might say that a Scrambler is a better starting point for an adventure/touring motorcycle. Those people would probably be right, but I'm doing it anyway. Last year I took a 4800 mile trip on paved roads and I'm trying to make the bike a little more capable for such trips -- including the occasional fire road jaunt.
To my 30 litre Hepco & Becker Juniors, I added the 45 litre Junior topcase.
Very handy.
I also installed the Scrambler skid plate. I had to remove one of the frame clips that holds the starter motor line, but that was the only problem I had.
Next up: super gaiters, headlight guard, Metzeler Tourances, and some sort of auxiliary fuel tank.

If you had a scrambler the exhaust would get in the way of those bags!
Nice bike...you must have filled up your tank alot on that 4800 mile trek!

Which is exactly why I got the T100 instead of the Scrambler! I have a friend who just got an '06 Scrambler and is looking to have a friend fabricate an asymmetrial rack for him. I'm very interested to see how it turns out.
Thanks. Yeah, range was quite a problem on my trip, but I think a TourTank might solve that nicely.

See below to view the Norman Hyde touring model of the New Bonnie:

Notice the Givi luggage and racks, the 5 gallon alloy tank, and other details...all available from N-H. I've bought a number of things direct from this vendor and have nothing but praise for their products and customer service. Here's their site.

Five gallon tank is interesting. I am setting my bike up to be either a "GT" version bagger and a solo seat retro with the 804 kit and cams in it. I like the baggage shown, and the shield looks pretty close to the National Cycle quick detach deflector screen I use in undercover GT mode. Great stuff!

Here's another view of the Hyde GT. The alloy tank is expensive..around $1270. Still it's a beauty...it reminds me of the old oversized BSA tanks. It should be good for 180 miles of range without going on reserve. The racks for Givi luggage are nice, too. With the E21 bags (shown) there is ample foot space for a passenger. The racks price out at around $250 and the E21s can be had for under $200. I like the fact that the racks are black. Please forgive me Orpheus if this is a hijack...it just seemed to fit in with the theme of your post. BTW, I really like your bike. It illustrates just how versatile and competent our bikes are...well done.

Not a problem at all. Thanks for the kind words. I'm thinking of switching out the massive windscreen for something a little narrower and slightly shorter. There's an adjustable MRA Vario screen for naked bikes at Twisted Throttle that might fit the bill. The tank is interesting, but soooo expensive. Also I can't seem to find it on the Norman Hyde site. :???:
Are there any other large tank options for our bikes? To be honest, I've always been a bit miffed about our tank capacity. It seems like mine never gets past 3.7 to 3.9 gallons despite the fact that it is supposed to be a 4.4 gallon tank.

Orpheus, I've been looking off and on for a deal on a dented tank on Ebay to fabricate my own bigger tank, much cheaper than the NH version.
And, why make their tank of alloy? That means no tank bags on a touring bike? Stupid!
