I took a really cool picture of my bike at a distant fancy schmancy trailer park. I don't like the quality of the pictures my Nikon takes, but it fits in my back pocket and I have it with me all the time.

So anyway, I come home and look through all the pictures I took and found only one image that I liked. The following day I found myself looking at the bike via the recent picture and realizing (again) that the bike still ain't quite right.

I recently bought some chrome Predators (they should arrive today, WooHOO!), thinking that they would address my inappropriate two tone approach to pipes. Well, it's now obvious that those of you pushing me to blacken out my headers were right........ Those pretty unblemished chrome headers that I went to a lot of trouble coating with Kreem to reduce the bluing, just look gaye on my bike.

You guys were right, this bad boy NEEDS black headers, and I'm thinking black cans too. This is the image that stared back at me SCREAMING 'I look too foo-foo with these chrome pipes!' You guys were right (again), and you know who you are......

What's not right about it is that the fairing sits forward and high, instead of "enveloping" the front end. It looks like a stuck-on afterthought, rather than something that contributes to the "flow" of the bike. Sorry for what may sound like harsh criticism, but I'll be interested to hear your view on it.

That is a great looking Bonnie but I think you are right. Break out the barbecue paint and do those pipes in black.
I look forward to seeing that beast on the road.

Mancha.....

I agree, but one hell of a lot of work involved to get it where I want it, and I DO plan to do it someday. I hafta take a Dremel tool to it and open up the area around the headlamp. Then find/make some brackets.....
It'll look a hell of alot better and not so much buck-toothed.
Looks like I gots me some more werk to do!

DON'T BLACK OUT THOSE HEADERS! Trade with me! Mine turned out great but I miss the chrome. They are a nice Satin Black but could be left flat black.

Hey Fatty, with the look you're going for, I'd go all black. Sounds like 5bassman has a hella deal for you, if they're ceramic coated.

If they were in fact ceramic coated, '5bassman' and I would be doing a trade; but my reservations would be that they would not match the cans going on the end of 'em.

I have read with great interest these threads about painting headers with BBQ paint, stove paint, and/or special swoopy doopy heat resistant paint..... but I remain skeptical. I would have to spend the bucks to have both my headers and cans ceramic coated by the same outfit at the same time. Otherwise I fear that they just wouldn't look right.

BassMan dude,
I think you expressed interest in my pipes once before, and we might be able to do some'n. But I'm thinking that my Kreem lined headers are gonna stand up THAT much better to any discoloration after having them ceramic coated. I'll ask the guys at the coating shop about it, and if they suggest that the process will compromise my cement line headers, we can do a swap. Gimme some time though...... gotta get my finances sorted out as I JUST paid all my excesses off from last year.
I think it would cost me about $250.00 to the whole system done. I'll call 'em and find out what the story is....

No, not ceramic coated. BBQ Painted. They do have a High Temp. Powder coat now. All the talk about BBQ paint I thought it might save you the trouble.
