I have purchased Dri-rider saddle bags and a Triumph sissy bar for my Speedmaster but have run into trouble with the chrome bolts that attach to the rear mud guard. The existing bolts are too short to go through the saddle bag stays to the nuts in the guard. I spoke to the dealer that sold me the bags and he said that they get their bolts from a bolt company. I have found some stainless 8mm by 50mm bolts at the hardware store but they look like c*#p compared to the original bolts. Has anyone struck this before? Does anyone know where I can get some chrome washer head bolts like the original?
Thanks for the help. :???:

Hi Bushrat
I bought easy brackets for my TBA and received longer bolts with the kit, I bourght the brackets from the states but this probably doesn't help you much and I'm not sure what you can do apart from mabey check out your triumph dealer too see if they have longer bolts because the don't look like somthing that you can buy of the shelf just any where.
hope you find some

hi fellas, the way I see it, whatever bags I get I will be probably buying easy brackets to use with them. To me, you can't beat the quick and easy fitment as well as being able to lock them onto the bike. I'll probably be getting leather numbers from the US but these would also work with just about anything. If someone can tell me different I would be interested to hear from them cos I have only reached this opinion researching these forums and the easy bracket website.

Bushrat,

I got a set of long bolts from my Triumph dealer (Team Moto). I can't remember how much they were but they are exactly the same as the stock ones but longer. They appear to be made from stainless steel??

If they are stainless steel try a buffing wheel and polish.

PM me if you don't have any luck.

Bruv lives near Mount Crosby and may be able to get some as he deals with a few of commercial hardware suppliers.

BTW, I had K-drive bags fitted, very good if a little large. But my dealer has "mislaid" the original bolts. Only been waiting two months to get some replacements!

Hi, new to Forum and keen to get back on the road having sold my bike in UK prior to emmigrating 3 yrs ago. Really keen on Speedmaster. Q for any Aussies - are the specs the same for all SM's in USA & Australia? just thinking of parts, modifications etc. Also anyone in Perth WA with advice on best dealer to visit or known SM's on the market? Ta!

You and me both mate. Sold a Tbird for nuts and it's taken three years to get back on.

Only two dealers here: Lloyd Chapmann on Lord street and JCS near the Burswood Casino. I get the impression they don't like each other much!! JCS is a more traditional dealer but they had sold out of Speedies until March so I went to LC. They were OK but no deals to be done.

Since they are a pommy bike (until they send manufacturing to Asia anyway) specs should be the same. All gear for WA has to come from the East coast so now you know why they call it the Wait Awhile state.

Good luck and make sure you get a Speedy, you won't regret it!!

How'ed you go Bushrat did you get them bolts yet? I looked at mine again and they are stainless steel to but made especially for the easy brackets of course.
On another subject pulled the speedo cable out today to put some white grease on the cable but when I put it back on the front point of attachment I screwed it up to tight an broke the little plastic bracket, it might be alright to for awhile as it has just cracked it and still seem pretty firm, so be careful if you carry out this procedure.
I'll order another cable this one should be alright till I get the replacment :???:
